Frequently Asked Questions: Do you sell flights? No. We do not sell flights, but we have excellent connections with travel agents who would be more than happy to provide you with airline information. Why is Far Adventure Travel a good value compared to other tour operators? Our overhead is minimal. Therefore, we can offer very competitive prices to our customers. We do not produce brochures or do expensive advertising. These cost saving measures alone allow us to pass the lowest possible price on to our customers. Can I make my own air arrangements? How about using airline upgrades? Yes you can make any of the air travel arrangements yourself including airline upgrades or frequent flyer coupons you may have. However, be aware that the tour will start as scheduled in the itinerary and should your arrangements not work, we cannot hold up the rest of the group. If you chose to make your own travel arrangements, you would be charged only the land portion. Using upgrades or "free" tickets can work if you are successful in getting the flights you need in order to arrive in Tehran on (or before) the rest of the group. This availability fluctuates with each airline and the part of the year you choose to travel. Keep in mind that should you decide to make your own travel arrangements, you must let us know immediately so that your hotel accommodations can be adjusted and that the guide will know when you meet you at the airport. I live in another state, but the tours start from the East Coast. Will you be able to make full travel arrangements for me from my home state? Yes, we can make all the necessary travel arrangements for you. Beginning the tour from the East coast insures that we have adequate flight options into Tehran. We work with several agencies accustomed to individualized itineraries and that provide the lowest available airfare. If I wanted to share a room with another single person, could I ask for a roomate? We cannot guarantee a single traveler a roommate. However, if another single traveler is also on the the same tour and has expressed an interest in sharing a room, we will have you both exchange phone numbers and you can decide if this sharing arrangement will work for both. My passport expires shortly after I return from the trip. Is this okay? No, your passport must be valid for at least six months AFTER your return date. I have been on trips and all we seem to do is follow the huge tour buses. Is this the way your company operates? No, we try very hard to make the trip as personal as possible. Remember, that you are coming to a different culture however, and that seeing some of the important sites is part of a trip itinerary and you wouldn't want to miss out on these important cultural or archaeological sites. We do however visit sites that larger tour groups cannot easily see, and do "non-traditional" things like having a picnic near the bas relief inscriptions at Bishapour instead of eating in a restaurant or visit a local fortuneteller. In this way, you are exposed to a slice of real life. It seems that we do a lot of driving on the tours. Is it possible to fly instead? The countries that we are primarily focused on just do not have the infrastructure as a Western country does to support airports in every city or luxury hotel accommodations, etc. Many of the places we visit are en route to a larger town and if we fly from place to place it would add to your cost as well as additional days in order for you to see the specific sites. The most logical and economical way is to drive even if there are some longer trips than we would prefer.
